Nestled within the trees, lakes, prairies, and hills of the Kettle Moraine State Forest in southeastern Wisconsin, is Whitewater, a city rich with opportunity and exploration.

Ice Age National Scenic Trail
Explore over 25 miles of maintained trails through the Kettle Moraine State Forest Southern Unit and Clover Valley Habitat Area
Clover Valley Segment: 1.6mi & 4.9mi connecting route - Features meadow habitat and Spring Brook
Whitewater Lake Segment: 4.6mi - Features hilly terrain, woodland habitat, and a lookout point
Blackhawk Segment: 7mi - Features marsh, prairie, forest, historic Oleson Cabin, and Shelter Area #3 for backpackers
Blue Spring Lake Segment: - 7.1mi - Features rolling hills, a lookout point, and the historic glacial erratic, "Stone Elephant"
Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit
From Dousman to Whitewater, the Kettle Moraine State Forest - Southern Unit spans over 30 miles long with more than 22,000 acres of glacial hills, lakes, kettles, prairie restoration sites, pine woods and hardwood forests.
The forest provides abundant recreation opportunities including biking, boating & paddling, camping, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, swimming, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and more! Kettle Moraine State Forest Trail condition report (262) 594-6202.
Hop in your car and drive the southern tip of Kettle Moraine Scenic Dr. from Whitewater toward Delafield until you feel like turning around and coming back! The Kettle Moraine Scenic Drive spans 115mi route and traverses 6 counties.
The Second Salem
Whitewater may seem like a normal Midwestern town, but it hides a dark past, one rife with tales of witches, ghosts, strange murders, and occult practices. In fact, Whitewater’s supernatural history has earned it the nickname, “Second Salem.”

Want to learn more? The Whitewater Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual Spirit Tour every October. On the Whitewater Spirit Tour, you will learn about Whitewater’s “spirited” sites. You’ll experience cemeteries under the stars, visit with Whitewater’s most (in)famous historical inhabitants, and gain an understanding of spiritualism and its impact on our city.
