Special Olympics Wisconsin Summer Games Return to Whitewater in 2026

Whitewater, WI is preparing to welcome athletes, families, coaches, volunteers, and fans from across the state as the Special Olympics Wisconsin Summer Games return June 4–6, 2026. This inspiring statewide event celebrates inclusion, determination, community, and the incredible accomplishments of Special Olympics athletes.
Hosted in partnership with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the three-day event brings energy and excitement throughout the Whitewater area while showcasing the welcoming spirit of the community. Visitors can expect inspiring competitions, memorable ceremonies, wellness activities, and opportunities to explore everything Whitewater has to offer.
About the Special Olympics
For the fourth consecutive year, the Summer Games will bring energy and excitement to the Whitewater area as athletes compete in track & field, cornhole, and powerlifting.
Events will take place at UW-Whitewater athletic facilities, while track and field competitions will be held at Palmyra High School due to construction at Rex Foster Track.
The weekend officially kicks off Thursday evening with the Parade of Athletes and Opening Ceremony at Perkins Stadium, creating one of the most inspiring moments of the event.
Beyond competition, the Summer Games also feature health and wellness programming, social activities, and opportunities for the community to get involved. Healthy Athletes initiatives including Fit Feet, Opening Eyes, Strong Minds, and Special Smiles will provide wellness resources and screenings throughout the weekend. Athletes and attendees can also enjoy Victory Village activities, dances, and community celebrations.
