Sportsman Itinerary
Whether you are someone who enjoys
watching their favorite sport or someone who prefers to be
an active participant, you can find what you are looking for
here in Whitewater.
Pick up a Warhawk sweatshirt at
the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater bookstore before you
head out to Perkins Stadium which is the largest NCAA Division
III football stadium boasting a capacity
of 11,000. Spend the afternoon cheering the UWW Warhawk football
team to victory.
Take a swing at one of the nation's
top twelve par-3 golf courses (Golf Range
Magazine 2006). This unique course offers full length par-3's
using triple tees on each hole to allow the golfer to play
not only to his or her abilities, but also to practice a different
tee shot each time around the course.
Take a full day out on the lake
angling for the big one. Whitewater's 4 lakes
are home to Bass, Crappie, Blue Gill, Northern Pike, and Walleye.
Boats rentals are available on Whitewater Lake.
The Kettle Moraine State Forest
offers a wide variety of hunting opportunities
reflecting the diverse topography and vegetative cover found
in the forest. Deer and small game hunting are the main hunting
activities in the forest, but opportunities for waterfowl
hunting and trapping of fur bearers are also present. Contact
the forest headquarters for hunting regulation information
and mapping prior to your visit.
Keep sharp in the off-season with
an afternoon of target shooting or sporting
clays at McMiller Sports Center located minutes from
Whitewater.
