Family Friendly Itinerary
With just a little advance planning
you and your family can enjoy an amazing day of horseback
riding! Whitewater's close proximity to area stables
makes the experience not only memorable but convenient.
Head over to Whitewater
Mercy Fitness & Aquatic Center for an
afternoon of waterworks. Why not let mom and dad take turns
in the workout facility while the kids enjoy the lazy river
and water slide.
Spend a Saturday evening Memorial
Day through Labor Day on Whitewater Lake watching the supremely
talented and highly entertaining Minneiska Water Ski
Team. Shows are free and feature a ever changing
performance set to music.
Every other Thursday evening through
the summer Cravath Lakefront boasts Family Fun Nights.
Sponsored by the Park & Recreation Department, it is a
good time for the whole family. Past years have seen magicians,
crafts, jugglers and more!! Check the online calendar of events
for current schedule.
If you haven't yet heard of Geocaching,
you will! This increasingly popular activity involves participants
utilizing a GPS unit to search for hidden treasure or 'caches.'
Whitewater is home to many caches as well as a multi-cache
series that will take approximately 2 hours to complete. Happy
hunting!
Skate boarders or BMX enthusiasts
in the family? Let the kids burn off some excess energy at
Whitewater's Skate Park while mom and dad
enjoy the view of Whitewater Creek from the bridge located
along a scenic biking/walking path.
Another great energy burner-Wall
Crawlers indoor rock climbing gym. Expert instruction
for adults and children alike, this facility provides a unique
family activity that is sure to leave you smiling. An observation
deck allows for superior photo opportunities as well as a
relaxing spot for viewing should you choose to sit this activity
out. Call ahead or check online for hours of operation, and
don't forget the camera!
Stop at the Double Dip Deli in
the heart of downtown to grab an ice cream cone,
you are on vacation remember! A large selection of
tasty flavors promises not to disappoint and if you have any
difficulty deciding-try the flavor of the month, what could
be simpler!
Grab a picnic basket, beach towels
and prepare for a fun filled day at Whitewater Lake
Beach. BBQ's, hiking trails, jungle gym equipment
and of course sand are all here waiting for you and your family.
The beach is in a fee area so come early to get more bang
for your buck!
Spend an hour or two at Broken
Pieces and you will not be disappointed. Pottery,
mosaic, paint and glass art can be created by you!
Combine everyone's talents to create a 'family' piece
or work solo and see the individuality shine through. Items
that need set or firing time can be shipped. Call for hours
of operation.
Catching a fish brings excitement
and a sense of satisfaction to young and old alike. Just a
few miles from Whitewater lies Rushing Waters Trout
Farm. Remove a little of the uncertainty and frustration
that young ones can feel when fishing by casting their line
in stocked waters.
